Hi Every one!

I haven’t written for a few days and I have a perfectly legit reason…I took a much needed vacation!

I haven’t really had the chance to spend time away from my little family in a while. I love my husband and my son and lately I have felt a little drained with all the responsibilities of life.

So when my three friends who are self-employed or currently on vacation suggested taking a road trip I jumped on the occasion. We left our husbands and children behind and decided to visit an Eastern part of Quebec called Gaspesie.

The ride was 11 hours long which we divided between the four of us. When we got to Percé town the  pouring rain was followed by a beautiful rainbow

We stayed at the Hotel Riotel in Percé, where we found a good price, excellent customer service and we were close to all the hustle and bustle of the town.

We had simple bedrooms but frankly all we did was sleep in them : )

But most impressive was the view from our room

We  decided to explore the surrounding mountains in our area, specially Mont-St-Anne that has an amazing view of the city and holds “The Great Crevasse” which is a deep crack that was formed in the mountain after a glacier went through it.

We also did an excursion on a boat that allowed us to go around the famous Rocher Percé, The Bonaventure Island and we spend a couple of hours touring the island that is currently populated by one of the most important gannet colonies in the world and many other species of birds such as puffins, cormorants and murres! While on site we also got to visit the restored home of a rich family. The Bonaventure Island used to be inhabited by settlers from southern Ireland that came in the early 1790s. The Province of Quebec acquired ownership of the entire island by act of expropriation in 1971, evicting the whole population.

We also did something really scary! We walked up the the whole in the rock at low tide!

I got two words for you: Sea Food!

When it was time to come back I was satisfied with adventure, beauty, plenty of food and a little rest. It was a great vacation but it couldn’t last forever.

It’s good to take a little time to refresh and to be away from responsibilities!

Have you ever taken a vacation with friends?
