Hey, folks!

We took a few months to get our home ready for the market. It took a long time because we pretty much did everything ourselves.

Today I’m proud to present our living room. Just like other rooms in our property, I’ve decorated it in many different ways over the years. It’s one of my favourite rooms in the house. We love the brightness and airiness. It’s just a beautiful room with so much light throughout the whole day.

Here’s how it’s been over the years:

2015 (we brought the sectional that was downstairs up to our living room, and I made a house out of cardboard for my son Ezra)

2016 (the fake fireplace was replaced by a tv unit)

I wanted to show off the light and space, so everything we did was with that goal in mind. Here’s what we did in this room:

  • We painted  all the walls universal grey
  •  We moved the tv unit downstairs
  • Got rid of the storage pouf
  • Recycled the cardboard house
  • Replaced the curtains so that the light could come in as much as possible
  • We removed all the family photos to allow visitors to envision themselves in the space
  • We also tried to reduce the number of plants so it doesn’t look too cluttered
  • Placed a large canvas (found in our storage) on the focal wall

In terms of layout, we moved the sectional against the largest wall and placed the chairs in front to have a conversation area.  We got a new and very cheap coffee table from Ikea, I don’t personally like glass tables, and it’s not great with my four-year-old’s greasy hands, but it’s perfect for this room as it doesn’t take too much visual space.

Man, this room is prettier and more inviting than ever.

You wanna see?

The windows are accessible visually and physically for people to see

Some plants were moved to other areas of our home and some were given away : (

The living room is where family and friends spend a lot of time together relaxing, visiting and entertaining. At this time, prospective buyers are looking for a living room that is cosy yet roomy enough for large gatherings. I think we were able to achieve that with this room.

Do you like it better than how it was before? Or am I alone in that?
